Zelma J. Dodge
AHSAHKA, Idaho - Zelma J. Dodge, a lifelong Ahsahka area resident and homemaker, died of complications from emphysema Saturday at her home in Ahsahka, near Orofino. She was 81.
She was born Dec. 6, 1911, at Ahsahka to Thomas R. and Eliza Holladay Walker.
She grew up at Ahsahka, where she attended Teakean School, and later worked on the family farm.
She married C. V. (Ted) Dodge Aug. 31, 1929, at Orofino.
The couple farmed on the old Ahsahka Grade for 10 years before moving into the town of Ahsahka in 1942.
She worked for a time at Bowler's Cafe in Orofino, and also spent several years working at the Orofino Hospital.
She enjoyed the outdoors, picking wild berries, fishing, camping, collecting rocks and bingo.
Survivors include her husband at the family home in Ahsahka; three sons, Thomas R. Dodge of Juliaetta, and James V. Dodge and Robert Dodge, both of Ahsahka; three daughters, Lorna Toy of Seattle, Sharon Learned of Spokane and Louise Hamrick; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place, and no services are planned.
Pine Hills Funeral Home in Orofino is handling the arrangements.
